Winkiwoo Review: Creating Facebook Photo Books

The idea of making photo book’s as presents has been floating around my head for simply ages.

So when I was sent an offer on a daily deals site for Winkiwoo.com I thought what better opportunity to get a bargain and do a Winkiwoo review at the same time.
What makes Winkiwoo different is that it creates photo books using your photos on Facebook. You can even choose to make a book based on your Facebook status updates.
One thing to keep in mind is that to be able to create a Winkiwoo book, you need to allow the Winkiwoo application access to some of your information on Facebook. Be sure to read what you are agreeing to!
I decided just to go with using photos.

You choose the size you want your photo book to be. As I had vouchers for the Winkie Lite, I chose the small size:

The next screen shows all the photo’s of you and your albums on Facebook:

You go through all the photos and select the ones you want to use. These are added to the shortlist on the right hand side.
The photo books I was making were for friends so after I had chosen photos from my albums I also searched my friend’s albums for photos I wanted to use.
This raised a question for me – Is it ok to use other people’s Facebook photos?
I couldn’t access everyone’s photos as their privacy settings must have been set differently.
In the end I decided to keep going with making these books as I know the friends whose photos I used would not mind.
Once you have your shortlist of photos it’s time to choose your layout and arrange the photos in the order you want them:

Winkiwoo gives you options on the colour you want the book to be, whether you want a border around the photos and what order you want the photos in.
If you don’t care the order in which the photos are arranged Winkiwoo automatically adds them to the book for you.
You can also type in a title for the cover of the book.
After that you place your order and wait for the book to arrive!

My thoughts on Winkiwoo photo books?
The books themselves are great and the people I gave them to really appreciated them.
However I’m not going to use the service again and here is why:
I ordered 4 books with completely different photos in each,
- 1 book was perfect.
- 1 book had the wrong title.
- 1 book had the wrong title and 95% of the images were printed very small instead of their correct size.
- 1 book I received was not mine and I assume the guy whose book I received has mine.
After I sent an email and photographic proof to Winkiwoo support regarding the size of the small photos they did send me a coupon to redo the book but honestly I cannot be bothered.
Still, they have 154,828 fans on Facebook so they must be doing something right…

With that kind of track record they’re not going to keep those fans very long! I think a lot of people like pages and never bother to unlike them so that’s not a clear indicator to me of true fans.

That’s true Marge, I regularly get updates in my Facebook feed from things and I’m like “what’s that from??” lol

I have also had issues with mine. I purchased two books and had a hard time ordering since the website kicked me out just as I had almost completed my order. It has also been almost a month and I have yet to receive the product. This is pretty unfortunate being that it is now a very late graduation gift and I will not be able to use one as a guest book at my own daughter’s graduation. I’m pretty disappointed.

Quite frankly this is the crappiest album producing web site I have ever used. I have used several but this is one I will NEVER use again. I bought a coupon for the “deal” that I received. I spent literally hours putting my album together because the website kept kicking me out. I was very frustrated but continued on to get it done. I ordered the album in August. In September my album had not arrived so I sent a email to their customer service. I was informed that a good number of my 20 pictures were “corrupted” so the album could not be printed. (Amazing that no one bothered to tell me that). So they gave me a coupon code to use to start over and produce another album. I just spent another 30 minutes TRYING to start another album and of course running into more technical issues. So I am done!!! WinkiWoo have basically stolen my money that I paid for the discount “coupon”. I guess a hard lesson learned. I will stick with SnapFish, Shutterfly or Ziblio. This website is a scam in my opinion and looks like others are experiencing the same crappy service!!!

Just spent three weeks with the most idiotic customer service I have ever had to deal with. Do not use this company. Just print them yourself. Getting a refund is near impossible. The photos are tiny. And the quality of the prints is poor. Use shutterfly or flickr or something and make your own. It’ll be nicer.
