Is Your Favorite Book Making You Dumb?

According to the “Books that Make You Dumb” chart, Book or Mormon readers (presumably, Mormon folks) are smarter than Bible readers (presumably, Christian folks… Not that Mormons aren’t Christians, they are, oh my GAWD did I just open up that debate?!).

The Books That Make You Dumb chart is stacking favorite books on favebook against average SAT score. Some of the correlations – not just the Mormons vs. Christians – are fascinating.

One of my favorite books, as listed on Facebook, Where the Red Fern Grows puts me right at a 1000 SAT score. Ouch! Now I need to defend that choice, in that I’m much more well read than a 5th grade reading level book like that suggests, I just thought it was a sappy, gut wrenching story and it always stuck with me for that. Really. I’m not a 1000 SAT. I never took them – how would I know better?!

My other four favorite books weren’t on the list – Dharma Bums, The Naked Lunch, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Cannery Row.

I’ll take that to mean I’m off the charts in originality AND intelligence.

Look at the rest of the chart and see where your favorite stack up at Books That Make You Dumb.

This list cracks me up! And, by the way, you have really great taste in books! Fear and Loathing is the best !

Does this mean that pedophiles are smarter than the rest of us?

Since quite a few don’t get caught, probably. And because you apparently deem anyone who reads Lolita a pedophile, definitely.

I found the most interesting part to be that people who answered “I don’t read” scored higher than those who chose either “The Color Purple” or “The Holy Bible”. Yowza!
