Raise your hand if you can recite these favorites by heart?!?

My one year old LOOOOOVES to read!!! Hahaha! Well… actually he loves flipping the pages, chewing on the bindings, and throwing them across the room. But at least he’s interested in them, right?!?

As I was reading “Goodnight Moon” for the MILLLLIONTH time the other night, I started to think about how cool it would be to create our own bedtime story. I could just picture how excited Charlie would be to read about his very own adventures and experiences.

As always, I had all of these huge aspirations and creative ideas, but no clue as to how I could actually make it happen. Remembering Michelle’s post about creating a Photo Memory book commemorating her son Rory’s football season, got the wheels in motion. After checking out the Shutterfly website (which Michelle used) I wasn’t really finding what I was looking for. Nothing really seemed age appropriate for a 1-year-old.

Enter Google.

After sifting through a TON of websites, I found exactly what I was looking for!!

My Custom Story

Created by a woman who one-day found herself searching for the very same thing I was; this website is designed to easily create your very own personalized and custom board books for babies.

My Custom Story Homepage

The website is super user-friendly. There are two paths you can take when creating your book – Storylines or Write Your Own. I decided to create my own:

Charlie’s 1st San Francisco Giants Game

Step 1: Upload all of your photos. I also added some clip art I found in Google Images for extra *flair*.

Step 2: The design phase. You get 10 board book pages (not including front and back covers) to get creative with. You can make it as elaborate or simple as you want. There are TONS of backgrounds and picture/text layouts to choose from. In the left hand column, there is a *Tips* section where you can get pointers on how to proceed.

Step 3: Review & Purchase.

**Note – There is a 2 week production period. Upon completion, your book is then shipped according to your delivery preference. The book is a little bit on the pricey side ($48.25 with shipping & tax).

BUT WAIT- They donate 7% of all proceeds once a month to the Liz Logelin Foundation which supports widows, widowers, and their children. Such a great cause.

I am so happy with how the book turned out. It is made extremely well and is durable enough to withstand all of Charlie’s “love”. I will most definitely be creating many more of these little custom board books for babies. What better way to capture a memory for your little one?
